Thank you for considering me to photograph one of the most important moments of your life. I am a photographer specialized in Birth, Newborn & babies also providing currently working on becoming a certified doula & midwifery assistant. A child's birth is such a magical and emotional experience let us capture yours. Contact for more details.
My birth photography career started with the sparkle of my own birth being photographed in 2012 by my good friend/doula, my birth was the first she ever photographed, and they are my most treasured photographs, however grainy and blurry they might be. Years later, I still look at them often, reminding me of those short/long hours I was straddling my old and new lives, and to be able to again experience watching my son unfolding into a living, breathing, autonomous individual. These photographs are so valuable to me that I made it my life’s work to provide these same memories for other moms too.
Due to the "on call" nature of this type of event, I book only two births a month.
Don’t delay, contact me right away!
(BONUS OFFER: Complimentary 2 hour newborn session and birth Doula services with every birth - LIMITED TIME ONLY)
Retainer of $ 400 is due at the time of booking. Retainer is non-refundable. Birth is an amazing and unpredictable process. Sometimes unforeseen situations arise, such as preterm birth, caesarian section, and maternal or newborn health concerns. In these cases, I will attempt to take photos wherever hospital policy and/or family allows. In the case of c-section, If I am not allowed or wanted at the operation room, I allow the birth partner to bring my camera into the operating room in order to take photos (my camera is easy to operate and I will leave all the appropriate settings in camera to deliver as images as close as possible to what I would!). In case of a birth missed for these reasons or others, I offer 1-3 hour session and images delivered to you in 4x6".JPG format.
I understand the need for privacy and minimal interruption during labor. I use a fast lens with no flash to minimize disruption of the laboring mother, and to allow me to work in low-light conditions.
As a photographer, I will strive to maintain a healthy, positive, unobtrusive presence in the birth space and be a helpful part of your team. Most of the time I stay clear and only speak when necessary. I will also provide any personal assistance if needed/requested.
The content of the photographs can range from modest to graphic, and can include laboring at home, laboring in hospital, the moment of birth, newborn exam, first feeding, introduction to siblings/other family members, birth attendants, and the folks in the waiting room. We will discuss your wishes, needs and wants during our in person consultation.
Graphic photos may contain nudity, crowning, placenta, breastfeeding close-up shots. Modest photos focus on facial expressions, surroundings, and the newborn; no exposed breasts/genitalia. I talk with the family and create a custom "wish list" I will never disclose any image publicly without to client's agreement.
Talita Springer is currently pursuing Birth & Postpartum Doula certification and is offering these services for all booked clients. Please contact for more information!
Because birth is such a private and intimate event, I take extreme care in protecting the family’s privacy. The family is free to ask me to stop photographing at any time; I will remain immediately available to continue until the birth is complete. The family and I are the only people who will see the images that are not chosen for public display. Upon delivery of the image disk, I will delete all images I am not authorized to keep. Because I do not retain the images passed 6 months, I stress the importance of copying/backing up the image disk upon receipt.
The family and I together choose minimum of 10 images for inclusion in my work portfolio, which may be displayed on my website, entered into contests, used for promotional materials, etc.
Clients can order prints, custom birth announcements, canvas wraps, and other products directly from their private galleries. I also offer session packages and payment plans. CHECK YOUR HOSPITAL’S PHOTOGRAPHY AND “SUPPORT PERSONNEL” POLICIES! Some hospitals will not allow any photography during a childbirth.
PLEASE NOTE: Feel free to call me at any time sign of labor begins, whether or not it is within a week of the due date. Babies are on their own schedule! However, if labor begins outside of the one-week window, I cannot guarantee my availability for the entire birth. I will make every effort to get to the birth; however, I have four children and an on-call husband to arrange for as well. (My photography clients have two-week on-call status.)
I ask expectant families to call me as soon as labor begins, to allow me plenty of time to prepare. Please put me on the “to do” list on top of your birth bag so I am not forgotten! Call me as soon as contraction starts and you are planning on heading to the hospital, even if its in the middle of the night. This gives me plenty of time to prepare if you are indeed in labor.
I am looking forward to documenting your special day!
